Windows OS - Upgrades to XP or Vista

  • Moving from Windows 2000, NT or even 98 to Windows Vista and have everything still working after completion may be more than a challenge - it may be impossible! To gain a wider range of "allowed" software programs & titles to be installed you may want to upgrade certain hardware and software (or be required to prior to installation), but before you do you should know - easy and error free installations aren't a guarantee.
    • ** Back up any software before attempting to upgrade any operating system **
  • Back up all your most important file to another drive (removable Hard Drive - or USB thumb drive) for safe keeping.
    • Increase your memory and or change any hardware as required before the change and be sure to use the software migration checker tool, as available free from Microsoft.
    • If your PC is ready, and you know how to migrate your e-Mail accounts, address books, inbox/outbox/sent mail, small programs, documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.... then hopefully you'll enjoy the experience as you come into the world of MS Vista!
  • If your upgrade crashes during the migration - you can usually use the un-installation tool provided free from Microsoft, but in the event that doesn't work - then here is where that prior backup of important files can save you!

Video Upgrades

Need a new NetMeeting suite... maybe looking to make use of today's online tools for a voice/video/data conference all at once? You are in luck, NetMeeting may be just what you are looking for!

(OR) maybe you want to watch high-definition broad-casting on your PC Monitor - transfer your high definition program or movie to a high definition TV over an available 2nd DVI port on your video card? We can install SLI for PCI-Express, AGP 1 & 2 socket TV cards, or any other card your system can handle to add a punch to your graphics machines. Windows Server Upgrades & (The saga of one mans tale to dominate an IT Universe)!

A little story about Nate (our pseudo Geek wannabe hero) - who learns that Upgrading to the latest and greatest Microsoft Server OS can be a daunting task - to say the very least!

A corporate employer walked into the IT office one day and asked his IT "lead engineer" , Nate to get the server upgraded to the latest Microsoft server system. the employer promptly asked if he needed to bring in any outside consultants to the table, but Nate stopped him short and said he didn't "want any outside consulting knuckleheads screwing around with his servers" that he had so skillfully set up all his companies services on....

Server setup and client migration is no joke!

If you don't know the tools, names, or tricks of the trade then you are (already) way out of your league.

Think you can do this on your own? Consider this First!

  • Even we consider backup and server migration and upgrades to our own servers to be a risky business
  • Daily backups aren't enough, and even we don't have all of the answers for every scenario!
  • We ask  for help when it is available from all of our corporate sponsors (like Microsoft, Dell, HP and others) to insure that we and our clients will be as error free as possible!
  • We know that however hardened our servers may be, failure to upgrade is a distinct and real possibility

But, we still know that no one company knows it all - however a team of IT techs "together" has a far better advantage for getting things done right.... the first time, over the possibility of one person being in full and complete charge of any server upgrade project and missing a few steps along the way.

Will this take a day... (Maybe) - but "to get it done right" ....is really our ultimate goal!

Most of the time that can mean days, or even weeks of intensive hands on testing, backups, and implementation of security.

You can always go it alone if you don't think you need any help. But ask yourself, what's the worst that can happen? (Or) Better yet... can the task involved encompass more than you may even imagine?

Knowing we aren't the "King of the Hill" may be admitting a lot,.... maybe it's like saying "we don't know it all". But hey..., we're fine with that!

  • It's just how we do business, and when it comes to your servers there is no monkey business! So... Why chance it?

Office Tools - Application Suites   

Microsoft Office still rules the world of online Office Suite applications - and with Office 2007 rolling out we see no reason to stop the roar. We love the interface, shortcuts and little time-saving features so much that we're willing to put up with seeing the other 98% of the program we will never really use more than once.

But if you have to have free (as many do) then www.openoffice.org had a good alternative. But - don't let me tell you about it.... go see it for yourself. Let the competition begin...... NOW!

  • All hardware upgrade requests will carry the manufacturers hardware warranty guarantee for replacement (beyond the terms of any noted terms by Couri Tech as is noted on our "contract warranty" periods - (usually 1 to 30 Days dependent on manufacturer of equipment).
  • All parts warranted by manufacturer of the hardware are done so for the actual parts being installed only!
  • Unless stated otherwise in writing or as is "noted in your contract" at the time of installation Couri Tech assume no responsibility to provide any labor for replacement cost (s) associated with the replacing or repairing failed hardware (and/or) software  services due to abuse, neglect or otherwise failed equipment.
    1. Couri Tech assumes no responsibility, nor will it reimburse any client whose hardware has failed after installation for any reason (i.e.) the following:

  1. Loss of data, if found to be a result of actual equipment failure

  2. Physical or logical abuse

  3. Viral infection or other breach of PC security

  4. Protocol (or other software) routine failures, caused by 3rd Party updates

  5. Static discharge, power disruption (or) other power event

  • Neglect by customer to observe caution or observation of standard (or otherwise) known industry standard practices and acceptable use guidelines for the handling of PC equipment during the transport or (re)-installation of equipment by any (and all) persons outside of a Couri Tech authorized service technicians

  • Couri Tech assumes no responsibility for lost data during (or after) installation of any new hardware, unless otherwise specifically agreed to in your written contract.
    • Back up of all customer data is the sole responsibility of all customers, unless it is requested by the customer and agreed to be a paid for service and that Couri Tech perform a backup as a part of your upgrade service agreement!
  • All backups that are the responsibility of Couri Tech must be agreed to (and signed for) "prior to any upgrade services that are being performed"!
