Failed Drives ..
- Failing hard drives usually
present their imminent demise to the consumer far before they actually
crash.
- Many users will start
receiving error messages of memory instructions type (0x0000EFD)... and
often they experience many of the following "red flags" before actual
complete failure occurs;
- System lock ups that
require a re-boot to clear the issue
- BSOD (Blue Screens of
Death) or (in other words) error messages that will appear with a
blue screen and white text only notifying you of an error code and
possible reason for the system crash
- Automatic system
re-boots.... without user prompts.
- If they are not the
cause of a recently downloaded software program that requires a
re-boot before taking effect
- (or) they are not part
of a system software request such as the download and "often
required" restart of your system for a Microsoft Windows Update
to register the event in your PC so your system can install a
recently released security update if required for your
protection
- If your drive is exhibiting
any of the above functions, or you are experiencing other errors your hard
drive may be crashing!
- Many drives, once they start
exhibiting these conditions will decline in available use. Sometimes the
change is rapid (may only get one re-boot and then full failure occurs, or
it may take weeks or even months for the full failure to occur.
- In every event - if you do not
have a good data backup of your most important files you may end up losing
all data and/or experience a data retrieval scenario!
Data
Retrieval Scenarios ..
- Couri Tech employs the use of a bootable
operating system CD (so your drive is not the one we boot too, this allows
for us to run diagnostics of binary conversion programs, and if required
anti-virus scans to help either remove infections or search the drive for
useable data (if it had been corrupted) for recovery purposes.
- Couri Tech charges a $40 fee for all
diagnostics (up front paid fee) - and then run our tools and diagnostics
to determine your drives eligibility for recovery using one of our best
known practice methods of recovery.
- If we fail to obtain positive
results in data recovery attempts after the $40
diagnostics fee allotted time has expired (time = 20 minutes of drive
review), and if Couri Tech determines that we may not be able to get the data
you have requested, (or) recover too little data as may be required for a
customers to be
considered of too little value, we will inform the customer and the customer
has the right to stop further recovery attempts.
Some customers opt for further
drive recovery efforts even though we do guarantee recover any data recovery
using our tools and methods. The customer may opt for continued recovery efforts
by Couri Tech and pay the "the posted recovery fee rates" and the customer has
the right to limit the amount of fees charged (must be stated to in advance of
recovery efforts being performed).
(Or)
Couri Tech has also partnered with professional manufacturers drive recovery firms that have
"clean room equipment" to recover even "physically" damaged hardware or software.
- At the customers request we
may opt to either open a service ticket with the manufacturers drive
recovery team, or at its discretion Couri Tech may instead issue the
customer a (Direct) service phone number where the customer may opt to
deal with such professional manufacturing facilities at their own
discretion.
- Couri Tech customers are
notified of our observances and opinions as to the best possible course to proceed
in further data recovery attempts. Couri Tech, under no circumstance
will guarantee data recovery is possible in any event. Best industry
practices are employed, in all attempts.
- Couri Tech appraises its customers of possible costs
of a manufacturers recovery option as may be
associated if our in-store recovery diagnostics results show negative results.
Post Recovery ..
- Once a recovery is made, it may be in the form of
binary files only (strictly not readable by us). Couri Tech will in these cases
"attempt"
to run a "data conversion
filter" on the files.
- If re-assembled properly - Couri Tech may then
further attempt to restore all data back into
named folders where they may have originally been saved... (however, this is not
a guarantee as names of folders themselves may be un-readable or otherwise
un-useable).
Couri Tech does not imply, warrant or otherwise
guarantee your data will be placed into the folders it originated from
(particularly in the event that folder was manually deleted from the registry,
erased, renamed, (root folder) virus infected or otherwise irreversibly
corrupted... as may have occurred prior to re-assembly of your data.
Storage on a New
Drive ..
Your data may be backed up to an online storage drive if you request it to be
done (provided either at cost of storage by Couri Tech - or on customers online
web storage folder - post recovery). Once payment has been recorded, you may opt to download all of your files
to a new PC (over the internet).
Couri Tech does not imply (and/or) guarantee this method of data retrieval to
be 100% secure Couri Tech will use a temporary file space or a one-time password
for customers use in data retrieval - Customer files may be downloaded within 5
days of recovery (if this method is opted for) and the data will then be removed
from the temporary storage either upon full retrieval or after the 5 day link
expires).
